Keke Palmer Hints At Quitting Hollywood
Keke Palmer might be done with Hollywood soon. In an interview with Teen Vogue published on Tuesday (Jan. 30), Palmer said “I think the timer has started,” referring to her eminent departure from Hollywood.
“I think [I haven’t retired] because I just haven’t felt it yet. But the timer, I know that it’s around the corner,” she added.
Palmer has been in the industry for over 20 years, having starred in Akeelah and the Bee, True Jackson VP, Hustlers, Nope, and more. The actress made history most recently by earning her first Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show, for NBC’s Password. She is the first woman in 15 years to win the award. She previously earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host Strahan, Sara & Keke. The show aired from 2019-2020. She previously hosted her own show, Just Keke, on BET in 2014, making her the youngest-ever talk show host.
Later in the interview, she spoke about her legacy, which included her 11-month-old son Leodis “Leo” Andrellton Jackson, whom she shares with ex-Darius Jackson. The game show host says that she wants to teach him how to unconditionally love himself and to empower others.
Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson’s Relationship
Currently, Palmer has full custody of her and Jackson’s son until they attempt to settle their custody case in arbitration. The actress filed a restraining order against Jackson on Nov. 5 after he allegedly trespassed into her home, struck her, and took her phone.
Darius also filed a restraining order against Keke. In legal documents obtained by Page Six, he claims that following an incident in August 2021, Palmer later apologized for hitting him through a screenshot of a text message from her.
“I am sorry for hitting you,” the message allegedly read.
Jackson’s older brother, Sarunas Jackson, filed for a restraining order against Palmer and her mother, Sharon Jackson, but it was ultimately dismissed as the judge found “insufficient evidence that great or irreparable harm would result,” read court documents, according to E! News. A hearing has been placed for Feb. 7.
