Experience “Gluten Freedom” In Charlotte North Carolina
If you live a gluten-free lifestyle either by choice or necessity it can feel like you are missing out on some things. One of my best friends has been gluten-free since I met her. And I will say I’m pleasantly surprised at just how accommodating almost every restaurant is. Not only that but how many have dedicated gluten-free menus or accommodations (ie gluten-free bread, noodles, pizza crust, etc). They also are more inherently aware of things like cross-contamination. Even still it can be frustrating and you can feel like you’re missing out on eating gluten-free. That’s why one of my favorite spots is hosting an event where people can experience “gluten freedom” for one night here in Charlotte.
Gluten Freedom
The Gluten Freedom event returns to Monday Night Brewing Garden Co. (2217 S. Tryon St) on Tuesday, Feb. 27! The event will run all day from 12 pm-11 pm when Monday Night will transform their kitchen to make exclusively GF wood-fired pizzas. They will also have on tap Sans, their 100% gluten-free beer. Making this the perfect opportunity for those who typically can’t just go to a brewery and indulge in beer and pizza due to gluten allergy or intolerance!
I will also speak from experience that this pizza is not only the best “brewery pizza” I’ve had but overall just some of the best pizza! To ensure no cross-contamination and true gluten freedom the Charlotte Monday Night Brewing kitchen will close early for a thorough cleaning. This includes all surfaces in the kitchen and prep areas as well as the serving trays and pizza ovens.
The GF Dough is “as close as possible to the true Neapolitan pizza”. It is created with gluten-free flours including buckwheat, maize, rice, and psyllium, and then fermented. It’s then cooked in at 900 degrees. Choose your choice of 100% gluten-free toppings to create your perfect pizza!
And of course, try a draft of Sans – Monday Night’s GF Belgian-Style Saison. It is brewed with millet, buckwheat and oats. And has fruit-forward aromas of pear, melon, and a whisper of black pepper. So if you are gluten free or just want to give it a try for a night you can experience gluten freedom in Charlotte on February 27th!
