The question pops up in barbershops all across the city. Who is the biggest icon ever in charlotte? We have a lot of names to choose from. I mean from wresting, NBA, and the NFL the list is pretty strong and pretty competitive.

Charlotte Icons

Let me run down some of the ones that immediately come to mind. First of all you can not deny the impact that the city of charlotte has had on the rest of the world. The first name that comes to mind is none other the the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Ric Flair was a wrestling champion and all-time wresting icon. Ric Flair had crazy charisma and is still a household name. Ric Flair is recognized all over the world for his interviews, his ring strut, and overall charm.

The second name that come to mind is Larry Johnson. Ohhh what a time to be alive when Larry Johnson became a Charlotte Hornet. He had an immediate impact on the city with his play on the court and his alter ego Grand Ma Ma. He quickly became a fan favorite and global household name. The gold teeth wearing basketball player took the city to new heights.

Next on the list of names would be Cam Newton. Cam Newton the former number one overall pick in the NFL draft and former mvp really had the world eating out the palm of his hands. Cam led the panthers to their best season ever and to the Super Bowl. Everybody was doing the dab because of Cam Newton.

The last two names on the list would be Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan. Stephen grew up in Charlotte and has changed the game of basketball as we know it today. We all know what Michael Jordan has done in the world. Jordan was the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets.

So the question remains who would you pick for the biggest Charlotte Icon Ever?

When you visit a new city checking out museums is often something you do. For example, I've paid several visits to The Met when in New York City. But I'm not going to lie it's been a long time since I've checked out any of the local North Carolina museums.

But in honor of International Museum Day on May 18th our friends at AirportParkingReservations.com conducted a study on the most loved museums across America.

The rankings are based on a combination of search data and online rankings for the museums. They conducted a list of the most popular museums in the United States as well as the top 5 North Carolina Museums.

It's no surprise that my aforementioned Met is the most visited museum in the country. But it is the second most popular on this list behind, you probably didn't guess it- Graceland. Rounding out the top 5 were The Art Institute of Chicago, the Phoenix Art Museum, and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

But are the most popular North Carolina museums? Well, I'm glad you asked! There are numerous to choose from including art museums, science museums, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, history museums, and more. So what made the cut?

Below you will find a list of the 5 most popular North Carolina museums shared with us from our friends at AirportParkingReservations.com. You may be surprised at some of the ones that didn't make the cut!

While it may have been a while, I have visited 4 of the 5 on this list so perhaps I need to plan a visit to the last one soon. So next time you are looking for something to do check out one of these!
