One of social media’s favorite couples has announced that they are officially not together anymore. Victoria Monet took to social media to announce her and John Gaines’ split with a social media post following tons of speculation. In the last few months, many have questioned whether or not the couple, who share a daughter, were still together or not.

Monet took to social media with an Instagram post to declare the split. She states that the couple have not been together for the last 10 months, but planned to keep the split private. But, due to questions and accusations, she felt that the public announcement needed to be done. “Ultimately we decided to be open and address it in hopes to put a period on the question marks for the sake of our healing process,” said Monet.
The statement continued, “We spent the last 10 months trying to respectfully and privately navigate the fact that we are no longer in a relationship.” Monet states that there was no infidelity or drama regarding the split as many have taken to social media to share their thoughts and reasonings. “We both just have some fundamental growing to do that would be best done apart so we can remain the best versions of ourselves for our daughter,” they said. “It simply didn’t work out and that’s okay. We still think the world of each other and operate with love in every interaction for our family.”
The couple has been together for a few years and kept their relationship private for the most part. They officially announced their relationship when announcing their pregnancy in 2020. The couple share a daughter, Hazel, and will continue to co-parent. Just earlier this year the couple and their daughter attended the 2024 Grammy Awards where Monet won three awards.
Monet’s note to Instagram regarding the split ended with, “Please allow us the peace and space to maintain a safe and happy environment to continue to co-parent to the best of our ability for Hazel! We plan to remain a family regardless of our public facing title, so please when you see us together with Hazel, be understanding and gentle. We appreciate you all for hearing us out and hope to be kept in your well intentioned prayers.”
We wish them both the best of luck as they continue their lives in their separate ways.
