Charlotte Knights Team Up With JCSU for 1st HBCU Night
The Charlotte Knights and Johnson C. Smith University are teaming up to host the 1st HBCU Night presented by Truist. The inaugural event will take place on Friday, September 2nd at Truist Field as the Knights take on the Durham Bulls in a doubleheader.
The first 2,000 fans will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event. In addition to the game, fans will enjoy entertainment from the JCSU Golden Bullettes, JCSU Drumline, JCSU Blue Satin, the Devine 9, and a appearance from Smitty The Golden Bull.
The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Dr. Jemayne King. Dr. King is proud 2 time HBCU graduate, Elizabeth City State University and Virginia State University, a professor at Johnson C. Smith University and author. He was a contributing author to “The New York Mets and Popular Culture” book, which is enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He also created the 1st collegiate English course focused on sneaker culture.
