Charlotte Parking Rates Can Be $45 To Park For Under Five Hours
Recently, a girlfriend of mine and I were discussing parking rates in Charlotte. I decided to look into it. I was surprised to see some that could cost up to $45 for parking.
Parking in uptown and Southend of Charlotte can be a pain. We are seeing a lot more scooter and light rail riders just to cut down on monthly costs to park if you work in those areas. Street parking isn’t always available, but when it is, I will prefer to add some additional walk time to save money on parking.
I recently went to Romare Bearden Park and I was only there for about an hour to an hour and a half. There was no hourly rate available. I had to pay a flat fee of almost $15. That is absolutely ridiculous. So I went to Parkopedia and reviewed the current parking rate at various garages around the Spectrum Center. I used a time of entering after 1 pm and leaving by 9 pm. The Spectrum Center seemed to be a good centralized location to use. A lot of people frequent the area for shows, the bus center, The Midnight Diner, and more are near the area. Take a look at the screen grab below that showed current prices in that area using the times above.
Guys, this is ridiculous! If you want to plan a date night in uptown, it’s almost cheaper to Uber rather than pay for parking in some cases. This is the reason why knowing if parking is validated at the space you are heading to is important. I understand the $45 rate might be for a hotel, however, there was an area near/in the Third Ward was a $35 rate. No aspects were changed. This area is located at 228 South Church Street. Date nights, night out with the guys, or the girls is starting to add up. You have put more planning into where to park than charging stations for your Tesla.
