Here’s The Best Pumpkin Beer In North Carolina
Nothing says fall quite like pumpkin. You can get just about anything imaginable in pumping flavor, including the ever popular pumpkin beers. With so many breweries and so many pumpkin beers to choose from how do you know what the best is? Well we have an answer on the best pumpkin beer in North Carolina. This comes to us from a recent USA Today 10 Best list. They asked readers to vote on the best fall beers. And two North Carolina ales made the list. One is pumpkin flavored- hence the best pumpkin beer in North Carolina. The other is more autumnal without focusing on the pumpkin.
Pumking – Southern Tier Brewing Co.
First up coming in at number 9 on the 10best list and the best pumpkin beer in North Carolina is Southern Tier Brewing Pumking. Southern Tier has a few locations across the US but is a part of the Brewers at Yancey in LoSo making it worthy of a spot on this list in my opinion. Pumking is an imperial ale with an 8.6% ABV and is available from August through October. Southern Tier describes the beer this way: “All Hallow’s Eve is a time of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world and when magic is most potent. Some think we harness magic to brew our powerful pumpkin ale. Not so, but it is with great respect to the magic of the trade that our brewers craft this fine beer. Savor the bewitching taste, share the magic, and declare your loyalty to the Pumking!”
Celebration IPA – Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
While not a true pumpkin beer the Celebration IPA is a seasonal brew available from October through December. You can find it at Asheville’s Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. This IPA with a 6.8& ABV is characterized by powerful citrus and pine flavors. It is described as “fresh as fallen snow”. The Celebration is brewed with ure hops, and balanced with rich caramel malt. As its name would suggest its a “celebration in every sip”.
