The NBA Returns
The NBA has announced its return, 85 days after suspending the season because of the coronavirus pandemic. But there are some stipulations on who will be playing. Here are some rules of engagement.
-Players who return from overseas are likely to be subject to a two-week quarantine upon arrival, under current federal rules
-Only 22 teams will return to play (13 from the west and 8 from the east)
Teams will report to Orlando July 7th and a training camp will start June 30 and last a week to condition athletes. Starting July 31 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
One of the reasons for this is or course money. According to ESPN.COM, if the remaining 259 regular-season games had been canceled, the players were facing $645 million in lost salary. Adding 88 games back into the schedule reduces the collective salary loss by $300 million.
Unfortunately, our Charlotte Hornets were a couple games out from making the playoffs.
