The 85 South Show unites three of America’s funniest and most fearless comedians. Born in Atlanta, DC Young Fly first caught on with viewers and followers via his inimitable online videos. His 85 South teammate Karlous Miller is another veteran of Cannon’s sketch comedy and improv showcase Wild N Out.
Karlous Miller began his comedy career in Atlanta, Georgia and is widely known for being a cast member on MTV‘s comedy improv series, Wild ‘n Out and his notorious “Wildstyle” battles with fellow cast member, Chico Bean. Miller was born in Oxford, Mississippi. He was born into a large blended family, having five siblings. He was a firefighter before moving to Atlanta, to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian in 2005. His first television appearance was on Robert Townsends: Partners in Crime – The New Generation. He has since appeared in multiple televisions shows such as Hell Date,Yo Momma, Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes, The Mo’nique Show, Off the Chain, Comic View, Last Comic Standing and Wild ‘N Out. Miller has also been featured in written publications for MTV, EarHustle411, Oxford Citizen along with V-103’s Frank and Wanda morning television/radio show and Atlanta’s HOT 107.9.
John Whitfield, better known as (DC Young Fly) is an American internet personality, comedian, actor, host, rapper, and singer song writter best known for his “roasting sessions” videos on Instagram and Vine. DC Young Fly got his huge following from his “roasting celeb” videos on Instagram and youtube in which he would tell his “target” to “bring dat ass here boi”, he proceeds to roast them, and then ends the and roast by saying “faawwkk you mean”. His videos have earned him co-signs from celebrities like Kevin Hart, Michael Blackson, Lebron James, Chris Tucker, etc.
In 2015, he became a recurring cast member in the Season 7 of the improv comedy show Wild ‘N Out on MTV2 and was named “Rookie of the Year” in his first season. In 2016, he had a small role in the Christmas comedy-drama film Almost Christmas, which was released worldwide on November 11, 2016 and also starred as the lead in the independent film #digitallivesmatter.
In 2017, he was a opening act for Chris Brown’s “Party Tour” and also starred in three BET projects such as Tales, The Quad, and The New Edition Story. In the same year, he became one of the main hosts for the revival for TRL on MTV from 2017 to 2018 until it halted production and transferred over to Facebook.
In 2018, he released a new mixtape “Curb Music” and filmed two films: She Ball with Nick Cannon and I Got the Hook Up 2 with Master P, which was released on July 12, 2019. It is also announced that he would be starring alongside rapper Lil Yachty in the 2019 sequel, How High 2 in October of 2018, which premiered on MTV on April 20, 2019.
In 2019, he and fellow entertainer Jess Hilarious co-hosted the 2019 BET Social Awards. In December 2019, Whitfield started performing as an opening act for R&B singer Eric Bellinger’s “Cuffing Season Tour”.
In 2020, DC Young Fly became one of the judges for the internet game show Floored on the streaming service “Quibi”. In October 2020, he hosted the 2020 BET Hip-Hop Awards, alongside Chico Bean and Karlous Miller.
Anthony Chico Bean is a well-seasoned comedian that started his comedy career in Greensboro, North Carolina. After having a successful run as an opener for Chris Wiles, Bean became a founding member of the “Freestyle Funny Comedy Show” along with former cast members, Darren Brand and B-Daht. The group has performed stand-up at numerous comedy clubs, colleges, and universities, it wasn’t until Chico had done a set for Nick Cannon’s “Fresh Faces of Comedy” stand-up in which Nick Cannon discovered Bean at the show. Later having him audition for the fifth season of Wild ‘N Out and Bean has been a cast member ever since, being known for his “Sucka MC Battles” with fellow cast member Karlous Miller and also his Wildstyle battle with rapper Safaree in the “T-Pain” episode in Season 7. Bean also had a guest appearance on the game show Trivial Takedown on TruTv in November 2017. Bean is also known for being apart of the podcast “85 South Show” with fellow cast members Karlous Miller and DC Young Fly.
In 2020, Chico Bean, alongside DC Young Fly and Karlous Miller, hosted the 2020 BET Hip-Hop Awards
