CMPD Arrest Woman Accused of Killing A 13 Year Old Boy in Hit-and-Run
Police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run in Northeast Charlotte. The tragic incident took place on around 2am on Sunday morning near The Plaza and East W.T. Harris Blvd.
Tamika Powell, 35, was arrested and is accused of hitting 13 year old Kevin Gaviel Osorto with her car and leaving the scene. Osorto was pronounced dead at the scene.
Debris found at the scene helped detectives identify the vehicle as a 2016 or 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. On Monday morning, CMPD found Powell’s damaged Equinox parked in a gravel lot near the scene of the crash.
Powell was arrested and charged her with felony hit-and-run and involuntary manslaughter.
