Hit-Boy Addresses 21 Savage’s Relevancy Comment About Nas
Hit-Boy has jumped into the heated conversation on rap legend Nas’ relevancy. Last weekend, 21 participated in a Clubhouse discussion where he found himself in a debate when he stated, “What y’all saying, relevant though? I don’t feel like [Nas is] relevant. I just feel like he got fans.”
The ATL native added, “He’s not relevant, he just has a loyal a– fan base. He just has a loyal fan base and he still make good-a– music.” Hit-Boy worked with Nas on his latest LP King Disease III as well as the other two previous installations of the series.
In a recent interview, the producer reacted to 21’s “relevancy” comment in relation to their work on King’s Disease. “Even take like the 21 Savage thing. I just feel like that’s a part of King’s Disease,” Hit-Boy said. “How do you look at a Black hip-hop artist, legendary guy, who just won his first Grammy a couple years ago, right…just put four critically-acclaimed albums.” The producer pointed out that up-and-coming artists in other genres, such as rock, don’t disrespect the legends.
“We have to see that with hip-hop, and that’s just wack, man…that’s what King’s Disease is,” he said.
21 spoke out about the backlash in a tweet. The rapper wrote, “I would never disrespect Nas or any legend who paved the way for me,” he tweeted. “Y’all be tryna take stuff and run with it.”

Nas seemingly responded to 21’s comment when he posted a fresh set of Instagram photos with the caption reading, “[laughing emoji] LOVE.”
Fans flooded the comment section writing, “Had to inspire them again like I didn’t already,” quoting his song “The Pressure.” Another fan wrote, “A King’s response!”
“#relevant,” another fan simply wrote.
