New 18,000 Sq. Ft. Food Hall Opens In Uptown Charlotte
Attention: All Foodies! Uptown Charlotte just got an upgrade on cool places to eat. There’s now a new 18,000-square-foot food hall right in the heart of the city. Say hello to the Monarch Market, located at 101 North Tryon Street.
What’s Inside?
The Monarch Market is in the completely renovated One Independence Center. Located on the ground floor of the building, its website describes it as a culinary collective food & beverage destination. Visitors get to experience a variety of options from both locally owned and nationally acclaimed concepts. There are 12 food vendors that range from Asian, and Lebanese to Korean. Menu items vary enough to satisfy most palates. One can choose dishes from sushi, lobster rolls, mac & cheese, dumplings, or curry to name a few.
In addition to the food mall, there are three bars on-site and one full-service restaurant.
Where To Sit?
Monarch Market offers both indoor and covered outdoor seating. There’s also the plaza outdoor space near the Marriott. It, too has outdoor seating with overflow areas to enjoy within the Atrium of One Independence Center. Vendors have seating available within Monarch Market as well.
Where To Park?
You’re probably stressing about where to park in uptown Charlotte, but no worries. There is parking is offered at One Independence Center’s garage, at 110 N Church St., Charlotte, NC 28202. If you are visiting Monarch Market, patrons get complimentary parking validation for up to 90 minutes in this garage after 4:00 PM. O course there are a number of paid lots nearby in Uptown.
The Renovation
The renovation of One Independence Center has been in the making for the last three years. The Monarch Market is just one phase of change. According to The Monarch Market website, it is a $33 million dollar investment into recreating the new space. Crescent Communities is behind the movement. It’s a nationally recognized real-estate investor and developer responsible for development dozens of multifamily communities and some 24 million square feef of commercial space. They have footprints from Charlotte to Salt Lake City. One Independence Center is a 23,000 square feet overall that includes a variety of office spaces for lease.
