Nissan Issues “Do Not Drive” Warning For 84,000 Vehicles
Nissan has issued an urgent “Do Not Drive” warning for 84,000 older vehicles over faulty air bags. The vehicles are equipped with Takata air bag inflaters, which have been the subject of a massive global recall for more than a decade and have caused at least 35 deaths due to exploding inflators. Nissan says the older vehicles have and “increased risk” of explosion that “can cause serious injury or death” from shrapnel. The “Do Not Drive” warning applies to certain 2002-2006 Sentras, 2002-2004 Pathfinder SUVs, and 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4 SUVs. Nissan will offer owners free towing to a dealer to have the inflators replaced.
