West Charlotte High School Must Forfeit 2021 Football Season
West Charlotte High School will have to forfeit all of their football games for the 2021-2022 season due to an ineligible athlete. (11 games in total) In addition to that, the school will have to pay a $250 fine and return any money earned from their home playoff game against Stuart Cramer. The Lion’s Head Football Coach, Sam Greiner said that he did not know about the ineligible player until Wednesday. He also said he agrees with his principal and AD and now knows what they need to do for the 2022 season. West Charlotte High School finished the 2021-2022 season 7-4 and reached the 2nd round of the playoffs.
This is the second Charlotte Mecklenburg School that had to forfeit their 2021-2022 season due to issues with player ineligibility.
Back in March it was announced that Myers Park High School would also have to forfeit their 2021-2022 football season for “unjust circumstances where students were able to play when they should not have.” Several players on the team were not from Charlotte. Some were from as far as Texas and California. Myers Park was also issued a $250 fine and had to return the $6,700 earned from playoff games. Myers Park officials did appeal decision but the NCHSAA Board of Directors upheld their verdict and denied the appeal.
