The World of Sampled Music
Kanye West Ty Dolla $ign and Kid Cudiare being accused of ripping off a veteran performer for one of their hit songs and now he wants them to pay up.
We all now Kanye is the king of sampled music. And he usually pays homage to his artist.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, veteran actor and performer Ronald Oslin Bobb-Semple is suing the three rappers, along with Def Jam and Universal Music. Bobb-Semple claims in 2002, he created a recording entitled, “The Spirit of Marcus Garvey (Garvey speaks to an all-Black audience).” He claims his vocals were used in the “Freeee (Ghost Town Pt. 2).”
As I searched for this audio Kanye may have some explaining to do.
The suit explains that “Bobb-Semple’s voice and authorship are heard in the introductory words of Freeee.” He claims they never got permission or paid him a dime.
Should Kanye pay??
