It’s tailgating season, and I think these are the perfect dish to take along to an early morning tailgating party…like if you’re getting together with friends to watch the Panthers play in London this weekend! They’re easy to make for a crowd, portable and delicious.
Ingredients:
Pork sausage patties, bacon or ham
package of 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
8 large eggs, scrambled
3 slices American cheese, cut into quarters (or more slices, if you prefer to double stack. Pepper jack would be great, too)
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup maple syrup
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Cook sausage patties in skillet. Or, prepare bacon or ham if you’re using a variety of meats. Use a serrated knife to slice through the rolls horizontally. Place bottom half of rolls into casserole dish. Layer scrambled eggs onto bottom half of rolls. Top with sausage, bacon or ham. Layer with cheese. If doubling cheese, feel free to place a slice under and on top of sausage. Top with other half of rolls. Combine melted butter and syrup. Brush over the tops of rolls. Use it all, and let it cascade over the rolls. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes, getting golden brown and melty. Let sit for a couple of minutes to make cutting and removing from pan a bit easier.
