First African American Woman To The Rank Of Engineer
Johnson C. Smith University Alumnus, Camp Ignite director, Venessa Roy has made a new lane for herself.
The Charlotte Fire Department promoted an African American woman to the rank of engineer for the first time.
“It’s a blessing to see your hard work pay off and I can say that I’m excited to take on my new role as an engineer driver operator,” Roy said. “I am truly humbled by all the love and support that I have received from my family, friends, classmates and co-workers over the course of my 10-year career.”
The Charlotte Fire Department will be promoting an African American woman to the rank of engineer for the first time on Saturday.
