Netflix To Unveil Paid Password Sharing Program
In an attempt to crack down on password sharing, Netflix has announced a “broad rollout” of its paid password-sharing program. Netflix tested the program last year in Latin America and was happy with the results. Now the second half of the rollout will include the U.S. In February, the streamer started its “buy an extra member” program that allowed the primary account holder to pay a fee for two people who don’t live with them to have access to their password. The program stipulates that your device will be blocked if you use the password and don’t live with the primary holder.
After 25 years, Netflix is getting out of the DVD shipping business. “On September 29, 2023, we will send out the last red envelope,” the company said in an announcement. “It has been a true pleasure and honor to deliver movie nights to our wonderful members for 25 years.” This decision isn’t much of a surprise since the focus on streaming became the priority back in 2008. Because of this decision, Redbox is now the largest disc rental company in the country.
