WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 20: An installation of 857 empty school desks, representing the number of students nationwide who are dropping out every hour of every school day, is on display at the National Mall June 20, 2012 in Washington, DC. The installation was presented by not-for-profit organization College Board to call upon presidential candidates who are running for the White House to make education a more prominent issue in the 2012 campaigns and put the nation’s schools back on track. Kids go back to school in the coming weeks and parents of those children are becoming worried about the policy their school has about faculty and students wearing masks.  While Union and Rowan counties have made it optional for students and faculty meanwhile CMS schools and some other school districts are waiting to see what the state says their school will have to do.

While some of those parents are going to let their children go to school regardless of what the policy will be, more and more parents are moving their child out of the school zone or home schooling them because masks are optional and the child may have a medical condition. I personally think parents want clarity and if they will or will not have to wear a mask because regardless of school being open there is still a pandemic that isn’t going away anytime soon.

I’m sending my children back to school but I will be telling them to wear their masks all day regardless of what the school or state policy is.
