The City of Charlotte is getting a new Police Chief. CMPD Deputy Chief Johnny Jennings has been with CMPD since 1992 and was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2016. He currently oversees the Support Services group, including the Community Services Bureau. Our current Police Chief, Kerr Putney, will retired after the Republican National Convention which is currently scheduled for August 24-27 right here in Charlotte, NC. Jennings will take office in September 2020.
