Happy 277th Birthday To Queen Charlotte: Was She England’s First Black Queen
If you didn’t know why the city is dubbed the Queen City, it’s because of Queen Charlotte. So when Queen Charlotte was 17 years old, she married George III of England and also Ireland.
So once that happened, of course that made her the Queen of England and Ireland. From the research I’ve done, it’s alleged that she came from African descent. Now, let me be the first to say that her features in pictures definitely make me think it’s definitely true. Some researchers say that artists downplayed her looks and painted her image to appear more of Caucasian decent.
Now, lets move on to the show Bridgerton. Supposedly the role of Queen Charlotte was depicted after the actual Queen Charlotte. Hence the reason the character was black in my opinion. She may have been light skinned in real life, but she’s definitely of African descent.
The Charlotte-Douglas airport is doing something great. There is a statue of Queen Charlotte got a cleaning and is going to be moved. Happy Bornday Queen Charlotte.
Happy 277th Birthday, #QueenCharlotte! The 3,000 pound, 15-foot-tall statue was moved in early October to Carolina Bronze in Seagrove for cleaning. Her Majesty will return to the Terminal Lobby Expansion site soon and remain covered until construction is complete. #CLTRoyalty pic.twitter.com/RlbVdkLKtH
