When Smollett was first attacked, it was deemed a hate crime. The world rallied around him with love, support, and prayers. Then, the story started to unravel and reveal something that most would called crazy and even heinous. Jussie was alleged at the time to have staged the entire thing. Eventually it would come out that it was indeed staged and Jussie would be charged and convicted for the lie.
