Monica intervenes in domestic assault
(Photo by Noel Vasquez/Getty Images for BET)If you guys remember recently Monica jumped off the stage to intervene in a domestic assault situation. This new angle has some questioning her intervening.
I don't know who those "people" are that might think that she overreacted, but I will be honest with you. I do not think that she overreacted. This man appears to have this women locked all the way down and what other way was she expected to get away? I don't think she overreacted at all. Domestic violence is real and sometimes people aren't willing to take accountability for their actions. What if he held her down and she slapped him to get away and he justifies hitting her back because she hit him first? This could have gone so many ways. Take a look at the video.
Ashanti, H.E.R., Monica and More Perform at VH1’s ‘Dear Mama’
On Monday (May 6), VH1 celebrated Mother's Day in a major way with their third annual Dear Mama special.

The special that was all about honoring mothers brought out a myriad of R&B and hip-hop stars with their moms in tow. Dear Mama had several special performances by artists like Ashanti, H.E.R., Monica, Luke James, and Shai.
Ashanti's mother was brought to tears while Ashanti's younger sister Shia joined the "Foolish" singer on stage to perform her 2008 song "Mother" from Ashanti's album The Declaration. Anthony Anderson did more than just host the show alongside LaLa Anthony. He rapped the late Notorious B.I.G.'s verse in Ashanti's "Unfoolish" during her performance of the song, hyping up the crowd.
Monica sang her hit song "Angel of Mine" and then went into a cover of Anita Baker's "Angel." During the end of her performance, Monica's daughter Laiyah gifted Monica's mother a bouquet of roses.
R&B newcomer H.E.R. had a performance that surprisingly led into Shai's performance of "If I Ever Fall in Love." She started off by singing Leon Russell's "A Song For You," while playing the piano. Shai then graced the stage and shouted out H.E.R.'s mother before performing their nostalgic hit. After Shai performed, R&B veterans SWV graced the stage performing their single "I'm So Into You" and "Right Here."
Luke James performed a cover of "Reasons" by "Earth, Wind & Fire and their hit song "Shining Star." Prior to singing "Shining Star" he demanded that his mother get up out of her seat and dance. She smiled and obliged while James continued to serenade her from the stage.
Ciara didn't perform, but she took the stage to honor her mother Jackie and her grandmother Gladys. After a short speech recognizing her mom and grandmother, she went out into the audience and gave them both a bouquet of flowers before recognizing a few other mothers in the audience.

Beyoncé: Twitter Slams Monica Lewinsky Request To Change ‘Partition’ Lyric
After it was announced that Beyoncé would be changing a lyric from "Heated" off of her seventh studio album Renaissance due to an ableist slur, Monica Lewinsky decided to ask the megastar if she could ditch a line from her 2013 "Partition" as well.
"uhmm, while we’re at it… #Partition," Lewinsky quote tweeted in response to Variety's article on the "Heated" lyric change.
The TV personality and former White House intern is referring to "Partition," the third single on Beyonce's self-titled album that was released in 2013.
“Oh, me so horny, yeah, he want to f–-/ He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse/ He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown,” Bey sings on the track.
The Beyhive wasn't having it with the slander and cut straight to the chase. “Have you reached out to Beyoncé or her team before you saw all the heat? I am curious,” a user asked. Lewinsky replied, “No, I haven’t. I did mention it in the first vanity fair article I wrote in 2014… which was the first public thing I’d done in 10 years. but you make an interesting/fair point…”
Lewinsky who infamously had an affair with then-President Bill Clinton from 1995-1996 spoke to Vanity Fair and referred to the line in her article saying, “Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.’”
Beyoncé nor her team have publicly issued a statement on whether the lyrics to "Partition" will be changed to reflect Lewinsky's request.
