Derek Chauvin’s Convictions Will Be Asked To Be Thrown Out Today
Derek Chauvin was convicted in the kneeling death of George Floyd. Today it is expected that his attorneys will as for his convictions to be thrown out.
George Floyd was killed after former officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck so long and so hard that it killed him. In the wake of the death of George Floyd, protests erupted all over the world. Once Derek Chauvin was convicted and received 21 years. Now Derek Chauvin’s legal team is now going before a judge today to ask that his convictions be thrown out.
I know some of you are like he waived his right to an appeal. Well, he did do that on his federal plea, but this appeal battle is in state court. This appeal seems to be going on to make a point. According to My NBC 5, even if this appeal ends up working in his favor, it won’t matter in regards to his sentence. He would have still served more time on the federal conviction. Now, also according this same source, this could set some type of precedent for police officers who are convicted of various crimes. His attorney is saying that there were errors both legal and procedural that allegedly denied him the right to a fair trial.
